Visual Storytelling in Motion and Still
I had the pleasure of collaborating with singer-songwriter Forrest McCurren to capture the essence of his artistry through both video and photography. In his Kansas City home, we filmed a short music piece that brings his song "Dime A Dozen" to life with intimate, grounded visuals that reflect his honest, heartfelt style. I also photographed and designed the cover for his debut album, Oh Me, Oh My, crafting imagery that mirrors the raw storytelling woven throughout his music. Forrest’s songs feel like a conversation with an old friend, and I aimed to reflect that spirit in every frame.
Photographing Forrest McCurren felt like capturing a piece of middle America’s soul. Framed by an iconic American flag, Forrest embodies the stories he tells – ones that celebrate the beauty in everyday life. His music feels like a road trip through small towns, with characters you might meet at the local diner or on a front porch swing. Shooting on film added to the timeless quality of the moment, mirroring the unfiltered honesty in his songs. Forrest carries the kind of presence that feels familiar, like an old friend whose stories are worth listening to again and again.
